Two ferries and two bollards. Two ferries are standing head to head, as if they are having a conversation. So what is the subject of their conversations? Naturally, they hear whatever the passengers inside are talking about. The pier I was standing on while taking the photo is the Karaköy Pier, which was rebuilt after sinking in a southwest storm. There are not many ferries that have survived to this day from the Company-i Hayriye, a cruise joint stock company that carried passengers and freight on the Bosphorus in 1853. In old Istanbul postcards and black and white photographs, the first thing that comes to mind when Istanbul is mentioned is often ferries. From past to present, steamboats, which still carry passengers between the two coasts, deserved a rest. The moment I got off the ferry and set foot on the pier, I was excited to press the camera shutter when I saw this shot.
